Senator Tom Coburn’s Washington Wastebook

CNN) — Monkeys taught how to gamble and play video games.

People paid to watch grass grow.

Swedish massages given to rabbits.

Half of $1 million spent on a video game that is now helping terrorists train for missions.

And $1 billion spent to destroy $16 billion worth of ammunition.

These are just a few examples from the 100 entry-long list in a book detailing government waste, compiled by retiring GOP Sen. Tom Coburn of Oklahoma.

In the 2014 edition of the “Wastebook,” Coburn notes that getting rid of the practice of pork barrel spending is next to impossible.

“What I have learned from these experiences is Washington will never change itself,” he said.

Massages for rabbits

Some of the worst offenses listed in the book:

— The National Institutes of Health spent $387,000 to give Swedish massages to rabbits with a mechanical machine. Coburn notes that the NIH has a $30 billion annual budget and that the director of the NIH claims an Ebola vaccine would “probably” be ready now but for a lack of funding.

— NASA pays Russia $70 million per passenger to send American astronauts to the International Space Station and back. The space agency is spending $3 billion on the ISS this year and will conduct studies, many proposed by elementary students, including one on the “design and creation of better golf clubs.”

— “Only someone with too much of someone else’s money and not enough accountability for how it was being spent could come up with” a $10,000 program paying people to watch grass grow. That grass — saltmarsh cordgrass, which can grow to be 7 feet tall — was being observed in New Smyrna Beach, Florida as part of a Fish and Wildlife Service program.

The National Science Foundation is a favorite target in Coburn’s book this year.

The foundation spent $171,000 to teach monkeys how to play video games and gamble in order to “unlock the secrets of free will,” according to the report.

Other examples include $5.2 million for “voicemails from the future that warn of a post-apocalyptic world,” $1.97 million for a Facebook page and P.R. for fossil enthusiasts and a $46,000 grant to support the annual Clean Snowmobile Challenge — a contest to determine who can make the most environmentally friendly snowmobile.

The National Science Foundation is also planning on spending $1.5 million to monitor Americans’ attendance at science festivals. Another $200,000 will go to a study meant to determine “why Wikipedia is sexist,” according to the Wastebook report.

The State Department spends $90 million a year on cultural exchange programs, including one such program which sought to dispel a Pakistani journalist’s perception that Americans are “fat, rude, and cold.” It worked.

The agencies could not immediately be reached for comment.

Expensive destruction

“The real shock and awe may have been the $1 billion price tag the Pentagon paid to destroy $16 billion worth of ammunition, enough to pay a full years’ salary for over 54,000 Army privates,” said Coburn.

The book cites Pentagon officials who said the surplus ammunition has become “obsolete, unusable, or their use is banned by international treaty.” The book notes a 2014 Government Accountability Office investigation which concluded poor record keeping was the reason the military purchased so much ammunition it didn’t need.

The Army spent nearly half a million dollars — $414,000 — to develop a video game called “America’s Army, ” a version of which terrorists have used to train for missions, according to National Security Agency e-mails sent in 2007 and leaked by former NSA contractor Edward Snowden.

The Department of Defense is spending $80 million on a real-life “Iron Man” suit. The Tactical Assault Light Operator Suit (TALOS) would need 365 pounds worth of batteries to power the suit, according to the “Wastebook.”

Congress ended this fiscal year with a debt under a trillion dollars for the first time since 2008, according to the Wastebook report, but Coburn notes that the deficit still added $486 billion, or half a trillion dollars, to the national debt, which is “quickly approaching $18 trillion.”

Of the entries listed in his book, Coburn, who will retire in 2016 after serving two terms, asks, “Is each of these a true national priority or could the money have been better spent on a more urgent need or not spent at all in order to reduce the burden of debt being left to be paid off by our children and grandchildren?”

Here’s a Super Fruit That Outpaces All Others

By: Don Penven

On-going nutritional research tends to give greater weight to fruit over vegetables when considering health

Fresh Blueberries

benefits. Maybe this is because many more high carbohydrate populate the lists of available veggies. So the “Old Wive’s Promise” of “An apple a day keeps the doctor away” has some credibility to it.

So let’s take a look at this Super Fruit—the Blueberry. The basic stats are as follows:

  • According to research from the University of Florida, about 61 percent of the blueberry consumers prefers flavor over health, while 39 percent believe the fruit prefer the health benefits.
  • Blueberries are among the highest known anti-oxidant value fruits. They are sweet—but not too sweet—and juicy. The color is a deep blue.

My introduction to the blueberry happened when I was about 12 years old. At that age I was eligible for a work permit and I learned that some of the other neighborhood kids were picking blueberries on a farm some distance away. The rickety old stake-body truck with a canvas cover picked us up around 6:00 a.m. for the 45 minute drive. Once on-site we were each given a large “tin” can that we hung around our neck with the attached string. Within a week I had developed a very strong dislike for blueberries. I only lasted a week.

Blueberries are touted as potent weapons against high blood pressure, high cholesterol and type 2 diabetes.

This small powerhouse of a berry is fights numerous health conditions:

  1. Heart disease: The prestigious Harvard School of Public Health determined that anthocyanin-loaded blueberries actually reduced the risk of a heart attacked by 33%. Animal studies by the Arkansas Children’s Nutrition Center shows us that atherosclerosis plaque in animals was reduced by the addition of blueberries in their diet. Other studies indicate that eating just ½ cup of blueberries once a week lowers the risk of getting high blood pressure by 20%
  2. Weight control: Researchers at the Michigan Cardiovascular Center fed lab rates powdered blueberries developed much less abdominal fat, triglycerides and cholesterol. As far as humans are concerned, this seems like a much less troublesome method of loosing weight and fighting obesity.
  3. Type 2 Diabetes: The National Institutes of Health published the following numbers: 25.8 million Americans currently have diabetes. This represents 8.3 percent of the U.S. population. Of this number, 7 million do not know they have the disease. Scientists conducting diabetes research discovered that daily consumption of blueberries will drastically reduce the risks of type 2 diabetes. Myriad other studies prove an impressive anti-diabetic effect of a blueberry-rich diet.
  4. Mental decline:  We have seen significant evidence over the last 10 years indicating some amazing, beneficial effects resulting from adding blueberries to one’s diet. Most significantly is the effect on aging of the brain. We turn to Tufts University for what they consider to be a “magically potent” berry that reverses short-term memory loss and actually pumps up our motor skills.
  5. Metabolic Syndrome is characterized as a combination of health disorders that include high cholesterol, blood pressure, weakened glucose tolerance and ultimately… obesity. Metabolic syndrome is responsible for increased risk of developing cardiovascular diseases like stroke, heart attack and type 2 diabetes.

On the home front (my home), researchers from North Carolina State University discovered that phytochemicals found in blueberries improved hyperglycemia, a condition related to metabolic syndrome and type 2 diabetes. And we have barely touched the surface regarding health benefits of blueberries., the list of blueberry’s magical health powers goes on.

  • The berries improve vision health and tired eyes
  • Blueberries contain powerful compounds that prevent urinary tract infections
  • Regular consumption of blueberries drastically improves intestinal tract health by promoting the growth of good bacteria;
  • A great amount of research showed that chemicals found in wild blueberries are able to inhibit and prevent the growth of cancer cells, even the particularly aggressive Triple Negative Breast Cancer (TNBC).
  • Due to an impressive amount of antioxidants, there is no better way to fight the disease and improve the immune system than a handful of blueberries every day.

Some Very Basic Information About Diabetes

As I explained in my other posts, I am not a physician or health care provider, nor am I an expert on the subject of diabetes, but I have conducted exhaustive research and  have a good grasp on the subject. Much of what I have learned about diabetes is gained from the fact that a family member was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic nearly three years ago.

Diabetes is best explained by saying that it is a disease–but not a disease about the hormone insulin. It is a disease of the pancreas, the organ that manufactures insulin. Insulin has the ability to collect all the sugar (sucrose) and carbohydrates that we consume on a daily basis and it converts it into glucose. Insulin is also kind of like a delivery van. It carries the glucose to our body tissues where the glucose is absorbed by the tissue cells. The cells convert glucose into energy. No glucose, no energy!

Type 2 Diabetes

Up until recently, medical science was baffled as to why the pancreas slows down in its insulin production and why the body cells seem reluctant to accept all of the glucose that is available. This condition is known as type 2 diabetes. This form of the disease usually requires a modification in the diet and medication. When insulin is in extremely short supply, insulin injections are called for.

Type 1 Diabetes

In some cases the pancreas stops production of any insulin at all and treatment calls for medication and insulin shots for the remainder of the person’s life.

Diabetic Symptoms

Many of the symptoms of Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes are similar. In both types, there is too much glucose in the blood and not enough in the cells of your body. High glucose levels in Type I are due to a lack of insulin because the insulin- producing cells in the pancreas have been destroyed. Type 2 diabetes occurs when the body’s cells become resistant to insulin that is being produced. Either way, your cells aren’t getting the glucose that they need, and your body lets you know by giving you these signs and symptoms:

  1. Frequent urination
  2. Being thirsty all the time
  3. Losing weight without even trying
  4. Being overly weak and tired most of the time
  5. A tingling sensation in the hands, legs and feet
  6. Blurred vision
  7. Dry, itchy skin
  8. Cuts and infections that take forever to heal

This is a partial list, but I think you get the picture.

So Is There are Cure For This Dreaded Disease?

No doubt you health care provider has told you that diabetes has no cure. That’s a bunch of crap! Thousands of people just like you have reversed their diabetes that they stopped taking medications and insulin shots. But the media and the drug companies seem to be conspiring to keep this information from you. Why…?

Follow the money!

Sales of diabetes-related drugs amounts to a Multi-Billion Dollar business. Natural cures are becoming plentiful and this has the drug manufacturers in a quandry. You can not patent thnings that grown in farmer’s fields or on trees.

And the mainstream media would suffer because the drug companies spend Hundreds of Millions of Dollars on advertising!

Margie’s Story

As I mentioned in my first post, my wife Margie was diagnosed as being pre-diabetic several months ago. Well this tough old gal decided she was not going on drug or insulin therapy and she began studying diet plans. Her doctor suggested she try a low carb diet but Margie went way beyond that. She set up a diet what was practically no carbs for several months. She completely avoided eating any of the “white” foods like potatoes, white rice, wheat flour and most assuredly–sugar.

Granted, it has been tough on her, but her determination won out over all else. Not only is her blood sugar down within acceptable limits, she lost over 50 pounds! For the past month she has been giving away her “FAT” clothes. She went from a size 18 to a size six in most of her new outfits.

No, I’m not a doctor but here’s what one respected physician says, ““How long can we as a profession afford to keep our heads in the sand regarding the benefits of low carb diets for diabetics?” Dr Richard Bernstein, Author of “Dr. Berstein’s Diabetes Solutions”

My Tip For Today…

So…my tip for today is to begin your recovery by adopting a strict low carb diet. Seriously…you must do this if you have any hope of getting out of the clutches of the Drug Lords.

Future Posts…

My next post will introduce you to a respected scientist and microbiologist who sent shock waves through the health care community with his discovery!

Please leave a comment if you have gotten any insight into diabetes. Share your situation with me and other diabetes sufferers. You may also want to send me an e-mail so that I can alert you to future posts: donpenven(at)gmail.com.

Please have a blessed day!

Chocolate Milk—A Big Benefit for Our Tired Old Bodies

Compiled by Don Penven

Well as it turns out, your Mom was right when she told you that milk is good for you, especially after some vigorous exercise. Based on recent nutrition and health care studies, drinking low-fat chocolate milk after a workout or brisk walk gives one a bunch of carbohydrates and high-quality protein… and it has a pretty good taste to it too.

Chocolate Milk

Photo: shutterbean

Researches in three different but related studies examined the recovery benefits from a glass of chocolate milk to plain water and certain sports drinks. In testing high-endurance athletes, researchers learned:

  • Trained cyclists demonstrated improved performance and pedaled faster thus knocking off considerable time after chocolate milk recovery vs. sports drinks.
  • Adapting to aerobic fitness was multiplied by milk-drinkers over those drinking sports drinks.
  • More muscle growth and less body fat developed among chocolate milk drinkers at the end of a 4-5 week test experiment.

Researchers state that chocolate milk, compared to plain low-fat milk, water or sports drinks contain twice the carbohydrates and protein levels.  Chocolate milk also provides the recommended 4:1 carbs to protein content, which is ideal for replenishing tired muscles. The catch is that low-fact chocolate milk with very low sugar content is essential.

Another bonus is that milk is high in water content assuring adequate hydration. Last, but not least, we see that low amounts of calcium, sodium and sugar assist the body in water retention and energy gain. So you see, chocolate milk should not be thought of as a childhood favorite.

Ohio Mom Protects Home with Gun Twice in Four Months

.357 Magnum

.357 Magnum

From Eagle Rising articles

It is very likely every mother’s worst nightmare. To wake up in the middle of the night, having heard a noise just outside the safety of the walls of your home and knowing that you are likely all of the protection you and your children have. A call to the police may work, but how long might it take for them to respond? Five minutes, ten? Even less may be just too long.

That is the nightmare that Toledo, Ohio mom, Betty Collins has had to live through not once… but twice in the last four months.

Four months ago it was a home invader who met Ms. Collins as he tried to kick in the front door of her home. At about five in the morning, 31-year old Kyle Caldwell began kicking at the front door of Ms. Collins home in an attempt to break in. Betty, who was already awake and wary thanks to a call from her boyfriend about a suspicious man down the block, was waiting with her .357 Magnum at the ready. After a few unsuccessful kicks, Betty yelled for the attacker to leave because she had a gun and it was loaded. He didn’t heed her advice. Finally, Ms. Collins opened the door herself and the intruder found himself inches from the barrel of the loaded .357.

Once he realized the danger he was in, the man did exactly as ordered. He laid down on his face and waited for police to arrive.

Just four short months later, at around 1am on Sunday morning, Ms. Collins was pushed into protecting her home again. She awoke to hear chains rattling on her front porch and knew that there was likely an uninvited guest just outside her door. She opened the front door and confronted 21-year old Thomas Lee Johnson trying to steal one of her family’s bicycles which were chained up on the porch. She told him to stop and to leave, but he continued trying to get the chain off the bike. At that point she retrieved her gun and commanded the young man to lay down on the ground.

Once the young man realized the seriousness of her command, he did what he was told. Police arrested him shortly after, and he will be brought up on misdemeanor charges.

mom with gunWould either criminal have obeyed Ms. Collins had she not had a firearm at the ready? It’s doubtful. Neither obeyed until they realized that she was deadly serious about the gun she held in her hands. It was when Ms. Collins convinced them that she was prepared to use her .357 that they began to take her seriously. If not for her gun, things may have ended very differently for Betty Collins and her family.

The argument so often used by the liberal anti-gun lobby can so easily be refuted anecdotally, it baffles me that they continue to say the gun owning citizen stopping crime is a “fallacy.” The truth is that the police are not in the business of crime prevention, they are in the business of justice. They catch criminals or people who have already committed criminal acts. That’s no slight on our law enforcement; it’s the simple nature of living in a free society. The only way to prevent crime is for law abiding citizens to step in and stop them before they happen.

A round of applause for Ms. Betty Collins and her willingness to stand in harm’s way to protect her family. We need more Betty Collins’ in this world – if we had them, it would be a much safer place.

CLEVELAND – A Cleveland man is being praised by a city councilman for shooting an armed intruder at

his Pawnee Avenue home Tuesday.

“Whoever shot this dirt bag ought to get a medal,” Ward 11 Councilman Mike Polensek said. “I might get a proclamation for him.”

It all started when Jacquella Lattimore left the house to take her children to camp. Police say she was accosted by three men who were trying to force her back into the house at gunpoint. What the intruders apparently didn’t know is that Lattimore’s fiancé, Johnny Bridges, was watching from the window with his gun.

“They walked her out of the garage and when they got to the door, I shot,” Bridges said.

Bridges’ bullet hit one of the suspects. All three gunmen ran. The injured suspect was taken into custody at Euclid Hospital. The other two were stopped a few blocks away after police noticed they looked suspicious.

Fifth District Commander Wayne Drummond said they face charges of aggravated burglary, aggravated robbery, kidnapping and felonious assault.

Bridges said one of the gunmen was in the garage with his children and two nieces. Tuesday was his 8-year-old daughter’s birthday.

“Right now I don’t consider myself a hero,” Bridges said. “I just wanted to make sure my family was alright.”

A 72-year-old Southern California grandmother who shot at — and narrowly missed — a man trying to break into her home said Tuesday she was shocked at the attention her action was getting but does not regret defending herself and her husband, an 85-year-old World War II veteran who uses a wheelchair.

Jan Cooper, of Anaheim, fired one shot from her .357-magnum Smith & Wesson revolver around 12:30 a.m. Sunday as a man attempted to break into her home. During a 911 call of the incident, Cooper can be heard begging with the dispatcher to send deputies and warns that she has a gun at the ready as her Rottweiler barks furiously in the background.

Minutes later, a breathless Cooper says the man has come to the back porch and is trying to get in the house through a sliding door. Through the vertical blinds, Cooper saw his silhouette just inches away through the glass as he began to slide open the door.

“I’m firing!” Cooper shouts to the dispatcher as a loud band goes off.

Cooper then curses at the suspect, shouting at him to “back up.”

“You’d better get the police here. I don’t know whether I hit him or not. I’m not sure. He’s standing at my door, my back door. He’s in my yard,” she said.

The suspect, 31-year-old Brandon Alexander Perez, was not hit and was arrested a short while later by responding deputies, who heard the gunshot, said Jim Amormino, spokesman for the Orange County Sheriff’s Department.

Perez has pleaded not guilty to a burglary charge and has a court date later this month. The Associated Press was unable to leave an after-hours message for his attorney.

Perez had a rap sheet that included other burglary and narcotics charges and was on parole and staying at a halfway house not far from the Coopers’ address, Amormino said.

Cooper’s gun, which she has owned for about 20 years, was legally purchased and properly registered, he said.

“Even though that dog was barking, he still was desperate to get in. So who knows what may have happened if she didn’t fire that round,” Amormino said.

On Tuesday, Cooper was soft-spoken and composed, with her gray hair pulled back neatly in a hairband and her husband at her side during a news conference at a sheriff’s substation.

Cooper said she is amazed by the anger in her voice — and the curse word she let fly — after she fired the shot.

“I am a Christian woman and I’m very proud of it and I don’t curse but after I shot, rage took hold and I just blasted away,” she said. “And, in fact, afterwards my husband said, `I’ve never heard you talk like that!”‘

The stunned intruder apologized to Cooper after she fired, she recalled, telling her, “I’m sorry, ma’am. I’m leaving. Please don’t shoot.”

The grandmother of a 15-year-old grandson said she doesn’t regret firing her weapon, although she has considered how she would have reacted if she had hit or killed the man. Deputies have told her that, based on his height and the bullet hole, the shot that she fired through a narrow gap in the sliding door passed within inches of his left cheek.

“I don’t mean to shoot anybody,” said Cooper, a self-described tomboy who has also tried archery and knife-throwing and has owned guns since her teens. “But whatever’s necessary to literally stop them — he was not going to come into my home.”

Her husband, Bob Cooper, chuckled when asked if his wife had learned her aggression from him and his military service. Cooper worked gathering intelligence in Italy and France in the build-up to D-Day and spent years going to the shooting range with his wife after the war, he said.

“I’m not surprised at all, not one bit,” he said. “I know her capabilities and what she can do if she has to.”

‘Dumb’ house burglar shot after locking homeowner inside his own gun closet

PUBLISHED: 11:40 EST, 16 May 2013 | UPDATED: 12:54 EST, 16 May 2013

The victim of an armed home invasion in Houston has turned the tables on the brazen intruders after they stuffed him into a closet that turned out to be the place where he stores his gun.

Police say it all started at around 2pm Tuesday when three men broke into a home in the 8200 block of Braeburn Valley Drive and assaulted the resident.

After a brief scuffle, the hapless perpetrators shoved the man into a closet, not knowing that there was a gun in there.

When the homeowner thought the burglars had left, he went downstairs, carrying his gun in case the suspects were still around, the Houston Chronicle reported.

On the first floor, the man confronted one of his assailants and the two exchanged gunfire, according to police.

The resident, who shares the house with his parents, escaped unharmed, but the armed suspect was much the worse for wear after being struck in the shoulder and leg.

He fled on foot down the street, but did not get far before he collapsed. His two suspected accomplices took off from the scene in a Chevrolet Tahoe.

Retired Marine and Former Pilot is Top Gun at Subway Sandwich Shop

Second Amendment-Keeping it Intact, Uncategorized  Comments Off on Retired Marine and Former Pilot is Top Gun at Subway Sandwich Shop
Apr 132013

Here’s an article the major media folks

quickly overlooked

Plantation, Florida:

Plantation police were called to investigate an attempted armed robbery: The 71-year-old retired Marine who opened fire on two robbers at a Plantation, Florida, Subway shop late Wednesday, killing one and critically wounding the other, is described as John Lovell, a former helicopter pilot for two presidents. He doesn’t drink, he doesn’t smoke, and he works out every day. Mr. Lovell was a man of action Wednesday night.

According to Plantation police, two masked gunmen came into the Subway at 1949 N. Pine Rd. just after 11 p.m. There was a lone diner, Mr. Lovell, who was finishing his meal. After robbing the cashier, the two men attempted to shove Mr. Lovell into a bathroom and rob him as well. They got his money, but then Mr. Lovell pulled his handgun and opened fire. He shot one of the thieves in the head and chest and the other in the head.

When police arrived, they found one of the men in the shop, K-9 Units found the other in the bushes of a nearby business. They also found cash strewn around the front of the sandwich shop according to Detective Robert Rettig of the Plantation Police Department.

Both men were taken to the Broward General Medical Center , where one, Donicio Arrindell, 22, of North Lauderdale died. The other, 21-year-old Frederick Gadson of Fort Lauderdale is in critical but stable condition.

Mr. Lovell was a pilot in the Marine Corps, flying former Presidents John F. Kennedy and Lyndon B. Johnson. He later worked as a pilot for Pan Am and Delta Airlines.

He is not expected to be charged authorities said. ”He was in fear for his life,” Detective Rettig said, “These criminals ought to realize that most men in their 70’s have military backgrounds and aren’t intimidated by idiots.”

Something tells me this old Marine wasn’t “in fear for his life”, even though his life was definitely at risk. The only thing he could be charged with is participating in an unfair fight. One 71- year young Marine against two punks. Two head shots and one center body mass shot.

Outstanding shooting! That’ll teach them not to get between a Marine and his meal.

Florida law allows eligible citizens to carry a concealed weapon. Don’t you just love a story with a happy ending?

Old people don’t fight, they just shoot you

What Do You Mean . . . Entitlements

The Safe Zone-Land of The Free, Uncategorized  Comments Off on What Do You Mean . . . Entitlements

An “Entitlement?”   What the hell is wrong here?

(The author of the following is unknown. I found this article posted on 8 different websites—none of which gave the author credit. So whoever you are—God knows you are right and so is your message.

Remember, not only did you contribute to Social Security but your employer did too. It totaled 15% of your income before taxes.

If you averaged only 30K over your working life, that’s close to $220,500.

If you calculate the future value of $4,500 per year (yours & your employer’s contribution) at a simple 5% (less than what the govt. pays on the money that it borrows), after 49 years of working ( on average ) you’d have $892,919.98.

If you took out only 3% per year, you receive $26,787.60 per year and it would last better than 30 years, and that’s with no interest paid on that final amount on deposit!

If you bought an annuity and it paid 4% per year, you’d have a lifetime income of $2,976.40 per month.

The folks in Washington have pulled off a bigger Ponzi scheme than Bernie Madoff ever had.

Entitlement my ass, I paid cash for my social security insurance!!!! Just because they borrowed the money, doesn’t make my benefits some kind of charity or handout!! Congressional benefits, aka. free health care, outrageous retirement packages, 67 paid holidays, three weeks paid vacation, unlimited paid sick days, now that’s welfare, and they have the nerve to call my retirement entitlements ! scroll down…

Emergency Rooms for their general health care -At just one hospital the cost to tax payers totaled over 25 million a year!!!

Someone please tell me what the HELL’s wrong with all the people that run this country!

We’re “broke” & can’t help our own Seniors, Veterans, Orphans, Homeless etc.,?

In the last months we have provided aid to Haiti, Chile, and Turkey. And now Pakistan, home of bin Laden.

Literally, BILLIONS of DOLLARS!!! Our retired seniors living on a ‘fixed income’ receive no aid nor do they get any breaks while our government and religious organizations pour Hundreds of Billions of $$$$$$’s and Tons of Food to Foreign Countries!

They call Social Security and Medicare an entitlement even though most of us have been paying for it all our working lives and now when its time for us to collect, the government is running out of money.

Why did the government borrow from it in the first place?   We have hundreds of adoptable children who are shoved aside to make room for the adoption of foreign orphans.

AMERICA: a country where we have homeless without shelter, children going to bed hungry, elderly going without ‘needed’ meds, and mentally ill without treatment -etc,etc. YET,

They have a ‘Benefit’ for the people of Haiti on 12 TV stations, ships and planes lining up with food, water, tents clothes, bedding, doctors and medical supplies.

Imagine if the *GOVERNMENT* gave ‘US’ the same support they give to other countries. SAD?

YEAH, OK, SO WHEN DO WE GET PISSED AND DO SOMETHING ABOUT IT?  99% of people won’t have the guts to forward this. I’m one of the 1% — I Just Did
